DETROIT MERCY TITANS @ MARQ

A rare renewal of an old rivalry

The programs meet for the first time since 2006, with Marquette having won eight straight in the series and holding a 61-27 all-time lead.

Marquette’s opener showcased its interior depth

In a 78-43 win over Mercyhurst, Joshua Clark scored 18 off the bench, Royce Parham had 16, and Sananda Fru posted a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double, highlighting Marquette’s interior depth.

Caedin Hamilton is reportedly sidelined

A reported calf injury is expected to keep Marquette forward Caedin Hamilton out, potentially giving Joshua Clark a larger role behind Sananda Fru.

Tyler Spratt is a key returning perimeter threat

Detroit Mercy’s preseason preview identifies Tyler Spratt as a returning scorer and Preseason All-Horizon League Second Team selection; he made 38.5% of his threes last season. His outside shooting will be an important counter if Marquette packs the paint.

The game is set for Marquette’s campus

The teams are scheduled to play at the Al McGuire Center in a student-only game, with a 7 p.m. Central start listed on Marquette’s official schedule.

Pick Ideas

Angles drawn from the matchup analysis above and refreshed as the news changes. They are a separate read from the LineCrush pick for this matchup, so the two can land on different sides.

Detroit Mercy plus the points

Consider Detroit Mercy +32.5 or better rather than laying the large spread; late Marquette rotation changes could affect the margin, so keep the stake modest despite Marquette’s status as a substantial favorite.

Under, but shop the number

Lean under 155.5 at that number or higher; shop around and avoid chasing a lower line.
